Best location for gem farming in Rise of Kingdoms

In our data, the place your city stands decides more about your gems per hour than your commanders do. Two accounts with the same marches can differ by up to 100 gems per hour just because of where they are. Here is why — and how to choose a better spot.

Why location beats commanders

A march only earns gems while it is gathering. Every minute spent walking to a deposit — or every deposit you cannot reach at all — is lost income. On our accounts, marches in good spots gathered 70–90% of the time; in poor spots only 45–70%.

Passes and zones: the hidden wall

The home kingdom is split into zones by mountains. Marches can only cross between zones through Passes, and a Pass that your alliance does not hold blocks your marches. Every gem deposit on the other side is useless to you, no matter how close it looks on the map.

This matters a lot: near some of our accounts 40–57% of all gems found were behind a closed Pass, while an account in an open area had none blocked. Before you judge a spot by how many gems you see, check which of them you can actually reach.

Distance: keep the walks short

Marches move at about 9 km per minute and one deposit takes roughly 7–10 minutes to gather. A deposit 30 km away costs over 3 minutes of walking each way for 10 minutes of gathering. Deposits within 10–20 km of your marches keep most of the time spent gathering.

Checklist for a good gem spot

1. Inside a zone your alliance can travel freely — no closed Pass between you and the deposits.
2. Plenty of gem deposits within about 20 km.
3. Away from the map edge — at the edge half of the circle around you is empty.
4. Not in a spot shared with many other gem farmers. A few friendly accounts nearby is fine (they can even open rallies together), but a crowded area empties fast.
5. Check again when your alliance moves or loses a Pass — a good spot can turn bad overnight.

Signs that your location is the problem

• Your marches walk more than they gather.
• You see many gems on the map but your marches keep going to far-away ones.
• Gems per hour stays low even after improving commanders and talents.
